High energy rechargeable Lithium Sulfur (Li-S) batteries are the next generation in power storage being developed by OXIS Energy for electric vehicles, defence systems and portable electronic devices.
Lithium Sulfur batteries have five times the theoretical energy capacity of competing Lithium Ion technology, are capable of 100% depth of discharge and can be stored uncharged for well over a year without any degradation.
Safety and reliability are also guaranteed as the robust OXIS Li-S chemistry means that the cells can survive both electrical and physical abuse without adverse reactions.
Lithium Sulfur batteries also benefit from being significantly lighter than Li-ion equivalents and due to a simpler production process and cheap raw materials; the price per kilowatt-hour is also comparable.
