Our offices and laboratories are situated on the Culham Science Centre, about 5 miles east of Abingdon in Oxfordshire. The site is nearly 200 acres in size so there is plenty of free parking and amenities include a shop, restaurant, deli bar and a Costa coffee outlet.

Tooling Design Engineer
We are moving from R&D to pre-production and require a tooling design engineer who can take a project from conception to execution, who has the ability to solve problems and design solutions, produce BOMs, source materials and work to budget and time constraints . It is envisaged that the engineer will have extensive tool making experience both in the design and manufacture of jigs, fixtures and special purpose tooling.
- Technical initiative
- Specialist in vacuum/ pneumatic systems, components and its application
- Extensive experience - industrial design
- Familiarity with industry standard CAD, Solidworks (2D and 3D)
- Able to cite examples of technical design achievements
- Ideally qualified to HNC/ HND in Mechanical and Production Engineering supported by full engineering apprenticeship
- Able to demonstrate a successful track record in an industrial design environment
- Experience of working with small assembly machines.
Process/Production Engineer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production/Process Engineer to join a rapidly expanding technology company specializing in the Design and Manufacture of Next Generation Battery technology. The ideal candidate will have experience within a high technology manufacturing environment. Experience of manufacturing is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Generate process documentation, SOPs and log sheets
- Generate, review, update and maintain process and procedural documentation
- Change control and manage engineering change orders
- Define and communicate quality metrics for the site and makes recommendations for improvements, as necessary
- Improve manufacturing processes to achieve continuous flow with excellent yield
- Assist with the introduction of new processes into production, including technician training
- Assist with the introduction of new products into production
- Provide technical support to operators
- Maintain and update BOMs, Routings and Part number information in the ERP system
- Set up maintenance schedules, procedures and spare part requirements for machines and equipment
- Manage own work schedule without supervision
- Communicate effectively with Operations personnel as well as internal R&D department to attain objectives and accomplish assigned targets/goals
- Work closely with line manager to assure timely review / approval of records to support customer demands.
Personal attributes
- Experience of lean manufacturing methods and production systems
- Experience of continuous improvements in an high volume production area
- Knowledge and experience of manufacturing cell or line design
- Experience of ERP systems
- Must have experience in process and product development in a high technology industry e.g. electronics, medical devices
- Demonstrate strong time-management skills, with a sense of urgency, when required, to meet demands of company/customer needs
- Capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals; superior verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in English both in verbal and written skills
- Capable of authoring, reviewing and approving documentation, including SOPs
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment
- Excellent planning, organizing and communication skills
- Ability to be self-motivated and work in a small and diverse team
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems to find root causes using 5Y, 8D, fish bone / Ishikawa or similar problem solving models
- Demonstrated experience in the transition of new products into manufacturing including DFM/DFT methodologies
- Knowledge of risk management and assessment of manufacturing processes (D and P FMEA’s)
Education and experience
- Qualification in Engineering or related Technical or Scientific field
- Proven experience in Process Engineering or Production Engineering role
- Experience in the technology, electronics, medical device, or manufacturing sector
- Experience in early start up and scale up of high technology manufacturing is preferred
- Experience of NPI for high volume products.
Preferred but not essential
- Experience of maintenance of high throughput automated machines
- Experience of PLC and SCADA systems (setup and programming)
